What he is doing is a disgrace really.

He’s abusing the legal system and making a mockery of it. All to fuel his ego and exact a measure of revenge. As a lawyer you are held to a high ethical standard and this kind of chicanery has to rankle you immensely. He really has no idea what he is talking about and is telling straight up lies and misdirection when rambling on about the legal issues in his case.

I think you are right. Novosel hasn’t made a submission since last summer. It’s been JLE ever since. My feeling is they knew this was likely to fail for the reasons discussed above but at his insistence they filed the case anyway. As soon as the court denied the subpoena, as professionals they felt they had to withdraw since he was dead set on continuing the case and winning.

Another reason for him to avoid the divorce altogether and it probably was the main reason why - he was about to get stuck with a good amount of child support/alimony for a housewife with two young children. Probably over a third of his income, not to mention giving her half of what he has in savings. So the “separation” works for him in that he can unilaterally set the amount himself and can lower it at his will, claiming financial difficulties related to the Patron drop. I reckon he pays enough for groceries, utilities and a small pittance of an allowance for his wife. Also he conceivably uses the fact she lives at her parents against paying her more. It goes back and forth. When he feels she’s slipping away towards a formal divorce he comes back and shames her about it, talking about taking his life and how he’d miss the girls.

There is sufficient evidence to demonstrate that he has petitioned the court for the commencement HOWEVER until anyone is formally and legally served with a summons (or equivalent), no one is a defendant. There is currently nothing to defend.

This is essentially the same as making a police report, right? Croatian law allows a citizen to make this complaint directly to the court instead of the police. The court then makes a determination whether or not a crime occurred with evidence which makes it worth prosecuting, like the police normally do.

Lloyd going on about “defendants” is akin to your neighbour calling you a defendant because your dog shit on his lawn and he called the police and insisted on “pressing charges”. It’s a civil case not a criminal one and not even a good one at that.

Suppose this even went to the “commencement” phase. I know it won’t but let’s imagine it did. I’m sure the relevant embassies (US/UK/Aus) would be VERY interested that a municipal court in Sisak is criminally charging their nationals under Croatian law for “offences” that allegedly occurred under US/UK/Aus jurisdiction. I would imagine they’d take this up with their counterparts in the Croatian Foreign Ministry and wonder how a municipal court in Sisak has this kind of power.

This case is so weak and insane that I’d imagine the Croatian government would take measures to shut this case down and have it dismissed should a judge be foolish enough to serve parties overseas.

I believe there is a solid reason why Karlo Novosel’s office refused to answer emails and return phone calls and this is the reason.

I think he understood that the criminal suit (and the civil suits, should he file them) aren't going anywhere [.....] I do think that he expected it to work as a deterrent.

There is evidence for both. In his 10 June 2022 "Legal Update" on Facebook, a lawyer in California made this comment which is pretty much what everyone else has been saying about the futility of his lawsuit due to his attempt to hold foreign nationals to Croatian law. He was also replying to Lloyd's assertion that he had no burden of proof with regard to his allegations. Jabba the Hutt claimed that when he feels someone has defamed him, he gets to sue, and it is up to the defendant to prove otherwise, which is just jaw dropping legal quackery and stupidity.

Lloyd, well... doubled down on a losing hand which has pretty much been the case for almost a year now.

The last sentence is key to deciphering what his expectations are: "...in a worst case scenario I would be happy with a Croatian verdict in my favour irrespective of whether damages can be collected abroad. The judgment itself would be vindication enough"

So, at very least, he's expecting a guilty verdict with damages awarded, but being unable to collect the monetary award. Also, in his 4 September 2022 rant about not affording his daughter's haircut and pursuing Kim and others round the planet until he's 83 mentioned he does not see himself losing the case:

When he's going on and on about people being "criminally prosecuted" and calling them "criminal defendants", he is definitely using it as a deterrent against anyone else who is speaking about him and what he did. In his 10 June Facebook post, he says this:

I also want to make it clear that those who received warning letters but haven't been listed as defendants are not exempted from future civil action. Neither are those who have produced defamatory content but have yet to receive any letter.

This is a clear threat to people like Jake, Cappytan, JWBD, etc who were among the 12 to receive a letter but were left off the court case filed. It also threatens anyone "who have produced defamatory content but have yet to receive any letter".

Taken alongside his earlier comment about "anonymous Jehovahs-witness.com accounts", I can count myself and others here as among the threatened. Lloyd, I've really thought long and hard about this and my answer is still no.

Maybe he felt that, at this point, his patrons owed him their dollars and had to justify ending their support. As he has discovered... that's not how it works.

This is exactly how he thinks. He feels that his body of work from before the livestream should still be compensated. He even made the remark to Andrew Gold how he wished he could have given a rebuttal to every Patron who has left about how wrong they are to cut support and they fell victim to lies and defamation.

Lloyd is a mentally ill man who insists he's the sane one and to this day continues to make threats. When this case fails, he deserves all the shit he's going to get.

Yeah, I wouldn't read much into it. It was revealed that his father claimed a bad back, so that company may have been a tool for tax purposes to establish that he couldn't work and "lost" money every year. Remember Lloyd believes he's the smartest man in every room and he probably helped his father set it up. Lloyd's name was also on the incorporation paperwork of his former brother-in-law's lawn care company. He probably claimed he knew everything about tax law and legal issues and offered to do the same for him.

As for him being on the paperwork all this time, it's an inactive company so it wasn't high on the priority list. Fast forward to last spring where people were trying to find out what he has been up to, he resigned so as to not give people the idea that him and his father were in business together.

Is he trying to make his Patreons feel that they are participating in his “activism”?

Yes. It’s a marketing/PR gimmick from way back. Nods his head, pretending to care, always ending with how he thought it was a good idea and that he’ll ponder it. If enough people ask, he’ll grudgingly do the video. In reality he dreads those Patreon meetings almost as much as JW ones, looking at the clock and getting out of there ASAP. It’s why he always seems to cancel them. Imagine being such an empty shell of a person that you set a reminder on your calendar for a Zoom with Lloyd, thinking he is really seeking your advice on what his future videos should be about. It’s like paying good money for an all-access pass at a rock concert and thinking the band just loves hanging out with you.

How many wavering JWs has he discouraged, causing them to remain in the Watchtower?

He’s for the most part decent with the newly awakened. He’s keen to instill within them a strong sense of loyalty to him as the one who woke them up. In this way he goes after the most vulnerable whilst they still have a lot of the residual cult programming and seeks to switch that blind allegiance over to him and have them join as Patrons. It’s the exJWs who have a few years under their belt that he has the most trouble with as they have interacted with others who are in no way like Lloyd and they are better off for it. Still, there had to have been a few who were early on in the awakening process who have been put off by his behaviour and didn’t want anything to do with “apostates”.

By now anyone else would have taken the hint and dissappeared like so many other youtubers in the past that were involved in similar scandals.He won't do that

He won’t leave as long as there is money to be earned that supports his lifestyle. At 43 and in a country where he doesn’t speak the language, he has literally no other options for work. Even at just below 400 Patrons, he is still by far the most well compensated exJW activist. He’ll never gain any significant amount of support back with what information is out about him. Especially with the way he spends money. The new reality for him is funding the costs of living for two households and his wine and dine lifestyle of foreign meet-ups and tourism directly funded by donors is gone. He also will not be able to crowdfund any significant funds for kickstarting any new books he tries to put out.

It’s chilling to know that Lloyd Evans has earned way more than Ray Franz ever did even when you adjust for inflation. It’s still a shame upon him and those who enabled and defended him when he attempted to profit off of stealing a copyright from a dead man. And the sheer blatancy of it all - not only was he selling illegal copies of it, he was advertising his website on the back!

One thing you can count on Lloyd doing is shooting himself in the foot and alienating people with his arrogant attitude. His failure to exact any kind of vengeance upon the M7 and the failure of his court case will demonstrate for quite a few people what this guy is really about.

From my trustworthy sources I do know that she is enjoying a very comfortable life

She's in a "tough spot", but then again, is she really? For many exJWs living from paycheck to paycheck and struggling to make ends meet, she lives a relative life of leisure. She's gotten to travel to many places round the world, been fêted at countless gatherings, and both her and her children are universally adored. Just this past summer her estranged husband took her out for a 1-2 week holiday on the coast. She is at the moment in a safe and stable home and stands to inherit whatever interest her parents have in that place.

And she's done nothing much besides bearing two children and being Lloyd's wife, though she possibly deserves a "medal" for being perhaps the only person on the planet who has seen his penis without being financially compensated.

€8000 and that should be non-negotiable.

Paul Grundy made a post here introducing his second book, addressing accusations of grifting. He falsely claimed that Lloyd could have been making so much more in the secular world. A two year art school grad who worked a series of temp jobs in Wilmslow would be making six figures had he continued along his course? Right. That line of thinking had to have come directly from Lloyd and Paul was just parroting it.

That his wife will no longer have any incentive to hold back. And that she might have other photos and messages. If he thinks he'll have trouble getting any job better than dishwasher, it probably won't get any easier when everyone knows just how bad of a person he really is..

I don't think any of that is within her personality type. She seems to actually believe in the concept of "privacy" and not in the way her husband does by making livestreams and snarky comments on social media, then placing the cloak of privacy back on. The information that is already out there about Lloyd's behaviour both in and outside the marriage is pretty damning and probably much more than she was ever comfortable with being released. I also believe that she is fearful of him. Her coming out directly with information and solid proof of what he's been up to will lead to him completely burning all bridges with her, a fierce custody battle, and probably fleeing the country and abandonment of his children if he's forced to pay significant child support.

I get why she needs to keep some semblance of a good relationship with him. He can make life miserable for her and I have no doubt he would do so if he felt she was being antagonistic with him. She doesn't need to intentionally provoke him, but she also doesn't need to show up in the lounge on Jabba the Hutt's sail barge.

This is true, and he gave a hint of it in the livestream. He made a comment he was out getting edibles in Thailand, so he was probably pretty wasted much of the time. He's still stuck in his "JW rebel" mindset and purposely seeks out vices that would get him disfellowshipped several times over. It's a point of pride for him. In making the comment about getting edibles, he added that many exJWs would think he's "even more of a villain" and had a sarcastic smirk on his face. Lloyd reminds me of the idiots at the party who are always trying to one-up others by trading stories about how wasted they were and the crazy situations they found themselves in.

It's why he included the part about humping a Christmas tree in his book. He was very drunk and it was something he was trying to brag about.

From what little I know of her and of the way you've described her, it seems like this was the case. When I say was, I am speaking of before she knew what he was up to in Thailand. It's one thing to be ignorant. It's something else to willfully ignorant. I say willfully because there had to have come a point where she heard what the fuss was about and why Lloyd was losing support. I wouldn't expect her to be an expert on the sex tourism industry and as a non-partaker, I know much more now than I did before. But I did know enough to know that a man travelling alone to Thailand was to see prostitutes, possibly underage ones.

If she still does not know about the sex tourism industry as we speak (5 January 2023) then she is being willfully ignorant. It's like knowing nothing about crypto and what it is, and have your husband tell you he has placed all your family's savings into bitcoin, only to nod and never bothering once to google the term and educate yourself. A simple google on Thailand and "sex tourism", sex workers", "prostitutes", etc will bring up a treasure trove of information. If she didn't bother to search for information then she really needs to get her head out of her ass and start acting like a woman in her late 30's with two young children and not some JW wife.

When Lloyd was posting here about his attempts to wake up his wife (she left roughly a year after he did), I was joking privately with a friend that it seemed she didn't have a choice in the matter. Knowing what we do now about Lloyd, I think we can begin to imagine the pressure she was under to leave. Don't get me wrong, I am glad she woke up and left the JWs, but you should never be under duress to do so. Everyone needs to wake up on their own timescale and upon their own volition. The pressure placed on her likely included regularly mocking her beliefs, seeking out arguments, pushing her into doing things she still believed were wrong, and just general douchebaggery when most loving husbands would be patient and try to move the process along gradually and at their pace.

I say this because it seems like Dijana has a lot of the lingering JW mindsets. She was awakened, but probably not in the way her personality called for. Seems like she was shamed and pressured into it and as a result has been artificially awakened in the sense that she might have not been at the point yet in her life. But her husband was an apostate now and was impatient with her, so she felt she needed to follow him out. And the information she had was likely filtered solely through him rather than her joining a JW support group and finding out what other questioning JWs thought.
